Tulips

Exit78 Photo of the Day #45

In Arkansas, tulips are an annual. Native (ProFlowers) to eastern Turkey and the foothills of the Himalaya mountains, regions with a cold winter and hot, dry summer, tulips thrive in similar conditions around the world.  Unfortunately, from the perspective of growing tulips, our winters aren’t cold enough for a long enough period of time. Sometimes a bulb or two will last for more than a year or two, but tulips don’t flourish for multiple years here.

Hi Mike – love tulips … and used to buy my mother bunches to have in her room at this time of year … probably daffodils first, then the tulips which would be later in the UK … the flowers are finally coming here – it’s been cold up in Canada – even though it’s been ok on the west coast – cheers Hilary

We have a number of different kinds of daffodils. The early ones are all done for now. There are still several different varieties that haven’t bloomed yet.

      Thanks, Ramana.

I have always enjoyed photography, even when I could afford it or didn’t have the time for it. I am now taking photos every day with either my digital SLR or my phone. I am amazed at the quality of images that I can get with my iPhone!
