Update 3/5/2011 — The Conway Joey’s Seafood & Grill was changed to Mickies Bluefish Grill in 2007 or 2008. Jay had plans for another location in Arkansas and ground was actually broken there before the economy tanked. The economic downturn also resulted in the closure of Mickies and Jay is back to work in nuclear in New York State.
A couple of days ago, I was in OfficeMax in Conway, Arkansas, and ran into, Jay, a former co-worker that I hadn’t seen in a couple of years. It turns out that he had opened a new restaurant in Conway, the first in Arkansas of a franchise that is in many states and, before that, expanded successfully in Canada. It’s called Joey’s Seafood & Grill (from the site: Founded in 1985 by legendary seafood lover Joe Klassen, Joey’ss Seafood and Grill is a fresh take on the cozy, neighborhood seafood restaurant.)
Jay seemed to be doing well after two years away from working in nuclear power. That seems to be normal for everyone that I know who, for one reason or another, have managed to get away from grind of working in a nuclear power plant. They all seem to be happy and doing well, and I plan to join those ranks in the near future.
I also plan to take a side trip one of this days and check out Joey’s Seafood & Grill in Conway, Arkansas.

The name for this blog comes from Interstate 40 exit 78 in Arkansas.
For most of my time at my last job, I crossed the exit 78 overpass on my way to and from work. With no entrance or exit ramps on the east side of the exit, I used an access road rather than the interstate.
In the last few years, there has been quite a bit of road construction in the state including a reconstruction of exit 78 with a new overpass and entrance and exit ramps in both directions. The construction also resulted in a new spectacular view of the lake at the highest point of the exit, as seen in the view at the top of the blog.
In the weeks prior to the creation of this web log, I had been trying to come up with an original name for it. I wanted a simple name that would be easy to remember. I didn’t want it to be something that was too corny or that would immediately place it in a category that isn’t intended.
This blog is intended to be a vehicle for self-publishing material related to things I’m interested. I hope that others will be interested in what I have to offer.
About me:
I retired recently at a relatively young age. I am taking at least a year off before thinking about looking for work. In that time I will be doing some traveling with my wife, working on my web pages, blogs, and photography.
I create web pages with what I consider to be legitimate content that may be of some use or interest to others.

I’ve been surfing through blog-land this evening and am absolutely amazed at the amount of blatant copyright infringement occurring associated with an opinion piece at Forbes.com by Michael Noir. The piece is titled Don’t Marry Career Women.
I’ve looked at at least a dozen blogs with postings on this and was astounded to find that at least a third had posted the entire article along with the counterpoint opinion subsequently published with it by Forbes.com.
People! That is blatent copyright infringement! The only ones with the right to publish an entire article is the copyright owner, which in this case is probably Forbes.com. And Forbes.com is a big enough copyright owner to go after those infringing upon its copyrights.

43 folders led me to an interesting article on a jounalism professor helping ESPN ask better questions in their interviews. While I am not a journalist, the article was interesting to me because I teach adult learners in an industrial training program using facilitative techniques — I guide the lesson by asking questions of my students.

I am just about done with my web hosting service. There seems to be some compatability issues with FrontPage, which I use, and their services. The last time that I tried dealing with them on this, I lost all of my FrontPage extensions, and it took days before I was able to get that resolved. I’m still trying to fix many of the issues that resulted from that.
Lots of work ahead, just getting back to where I was…. Oh well, better days are just around the corner….

According to CNN:
One or more Iranians witnessed North Korea’s recent missile tests, deepening U.S. concerns about growing ties between two countries with troubling nuclear capabilities, a top U.S. official said Thursday.
I guess this really doesn’t surprise me, though it’s the first I’ve heard of a specific Iran – North Korea connection.

It’s always nice to get a good review. I literally stumbled upon one yesterday.
Civil War Interactive has a new section, called on civil war blogs, called Blogging the Civil War – A comprehensive guide to Civil War blogs. In it, it says the following about my civil war blog, Chronicles of the American Civil War
