On Wednesday, another retiree — who I’ve known for over 25 years — went back to work on contract, the same day that I did. He’s working in another part of the training organization from the one I’m working in.

It just so happens, though, that his son is an “in-house” employee in that same organization.

Since he has been contracted to work primarily in a support role, there may be times that he’ll be providing support for his son.

He told me today that he didn’t have problem with doing whatever they needed for him to do, but that his son might have a little bit of a problem telling his dad what he wanted done.

Last year, when my contract job was finished, I stopped wearing my watch.  (see I don’t wear a watch when…,)

It’s not that I’ve got anything against wearing a watch.  I just don’t have need to be so focused on time when I’m not actively employed.

Yesterday was my first day on this new contract job.

I had hoped to be there several weeks ago.  The people that I’m working with had wanted me there several weeks ago, too.  However, there were some issues with getting the funding, as I understand it.

The office I’m sharing is two doors down in one direction from the one I was in last year.  It’s also two doors down in the other direction from the office I shared for over 15 years before I retired — the door in between is the door to the stairs.

After 10 1/2 months of not working an eight hour day of having to be in the same place sure does seem long.

I didn’t look at my watch too many times during the day, though — right…. 😉

Another blog that I’m trying to post to on a regular basis is Haw Creek Out ‘n About. I’m currently only posting photographs from our travels there.

The images posted here are photos that were posted on Haw Creek Out ‘n About over the last month.

All of my photos that I publish here and on Haw Creek Out ‘n About are from my online photo galleries. They are randomly selected and only used one time. Photos published on Haw Creek Out ‘n About will not be published on Exit78, except for those use for announcements of new galleries, and vice verse.  Some of the photos may have been been posted previously, before I had established the galleries.

While I would like to publish other material in addition to the photos, I have so many photos that I really want to focus on getting the photo galleries built.

I suppose that I could just post all of the photos on Flickr or some other service. However, the photos are intended to be integral part of my Haw Creek web site, — which will eventually include information to go with the photos, so I want the photo galleries on Haw Creek.

I hope to be adding more photo galleries to Haw Creek soon. When they are up, I’ll announce them on each of my blogs.

I’ve managed to do a post a day for a month now, despite losing power for over a day in the middle of June. I plan to continue for the foreseeable future.

While I don’t plan to do it every month, for this first month’s completion I’ve included links to all of the posts and listed all of those I received comments from up to the  point of publishing this post.  Thanks, everyone!

Again, this effort of trying to post every day is to make this a habit, something that I do without procrastinating.  After all, I like blogging, so why not?

These images were taken in July 2001 on the tour ferry to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty — two weeks after the 4th of July holiday and less than two months before that terrible day in September.

The top image is, of course, the Statue of Liberty. The second is the main building of the Ellis Island immigration station and the last is of the unbroken skyline of Manhattan Island from the tour ferry.

The photos were taken with our first digital camera, a Sony Mavica, 0.8 megapixel camera that saved images on a 3.5 inch floppy disk!

We stayed home all day — so far — and I worked on my landscaping project.  Tonight, providing the weather allows, we’ll be driving down into the valley to see the fireworks.  We haven’t gone to a 4th of July fireworks display since 1995 in Jackson, Wyoming, the same day we saw fresh snow in Yellowstone National Park.
