A Washington Times editorial declares global warming a fraud:

 

Record snowfall illustrates the obvious: The global warming fraud is without equal in modern science.

The fundamental problems exposed about climate-change theory undermine the very basis of scientific inquiry. Huge numbers of researchers refuse to provide their data to other scientists. Some referenced data is found not to have existed. The U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 2007 report (that global warming activists continually cite) invented a large number of purported facts.

Just after we get there, the battery in my camera dies, and neither of the Emerald Lake shots are worth keeping.  The last good image was taken at 12:20.

This is a day at work  — a week — that’s hard to rearrange and/or reschedule.

It wasn’t supposed to do this until later in the day… but at 4:30 AM we already had a bit of white stuff.

It looks as though we may get a good bit more.

When the Arctic Oscillation went strongly negative last month,
temperatures in Arkansas dropped to 10 to 20°F below normal.

We are certainly getting a taste of winter this year.

… and road conditions are already deteriorating (blue is snow covered, green is slush).

The Arctic Oscillation has become strongly negative again.

Professor John Mitchell, in his role on the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, approved the inclusion of the infamous “hockey stick” graph – which portrays Earth as hotter than any time in the last 1300 years –  into an IPCC report.

In the “hockey stick” graph, and it’s related text, the Medieval Warm Period, when Vikings established settlements and farms in Greenland, is minimized.  According to some scientists, the Medieval Warm period was as warm, or warmer than, today.

According to a Daily MailOnline article, the Met Office is refusing requests related to Professor Mitchell’s IPPC papers  and correspondence.

Early drafts of the report were fiercely contested by official IPCC reviewers, who cited other scientific papers stating that the 1,300-year claim and the graph were inaccurate.

But the final version, approved by Prof Mitchell, the relevant chapter’s review editor, swept aside these concerns.

Now, the Met Office is refusing to disclose Prof Mitchell’s working papers and correspondence with his IPCC colleagues in response to requests filed under the Freedom of Information Act.

The block has been endorsed in writing by Defence Secretary Bob Ainsworth – whose department has responsibility for the Met Office.

Documents obtained by The Mail on Sunday reveal that the Met Office’s stonewalling was part of a co-ordinated, legally questionable strategy by climate change academics linked with the IPCC to block access to outsiders.

Last month, the Information Commissioner ruled that scientists from the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia – the source of the leaked ‘Warmergate’ emails – acted unlawfully in refusing FOI requests to share their data.

Warmergate is also known as Climategate.

As new inaccuracies are identified in the 2007 IPCC AR4 report, a leading scientist is calling on the IPCC to take care of its blunders before all credibility is lost, according to a report in The Sunday Times (UK).

Robert Watson, chief scientist at Defra, the environment ministry, who chaired the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) from 1997 to 2002, was speaking after more potential inaccuracies emerged in the IPCC’s 2007 benchmark report on global warming.

The most important is a claim that global warming could cut rain-fed north African crop production by up to 50% by 2020, a remarkably short time for such a dramatic change. The claim has been quoted in speeches by Rajendra Pachauri, the IPCC chairman, and by Ban Ki-moon, the UN secretary-general.

This weekend Professor Chris Field, the new lead author of the IPCC’s climate impacts team, told The Sunday Times that he could find nothing in the report to support the claim. The revelation follows the IPCC’s retraction of a claim that the Himalayan glaciers might all melt by 2035.

India says it can’t rely on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, according to a UK Telegraph article.

 

India has threatened to pull out of the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and set up its on climate change body because it "cannot rely" on the group headed by its own Nobel Prize-winning scientist Dr R K Pachauri.

The Indian government’s move is a snub to both the IPCC and Dr Pachauri as he battles to defend his reputation following the revelation that his most recent climate change report included false claims that most of the Himalayan glaciers would melt away by 2035. Scientists believe it could take more than 300 years for the glaciers to disappear.

The body and its chairman have faced growing criticism ever since as questions have been raised on the credibility of their work and the rigour with which climate change claims are assessed.
