Hi Mike – I’d never come across ‘doughboys’ before I saw an outdoor exhibition outside Mansion House in London about them … I’ve never written it up … for reasons at some stage will become clear. I have the photos though – so could probably do something on my return.

I’ve known of the term all of my life and that it was related to WWI US soldiers, but had to look it up just now… and learned some more:
Doughboy was an informal term for a member of the United States Army or Marine Corps, especially used to refer to members of the American Expeditionary Forces in World War I, but initially used in the Mexican–American War of 1846–1848.
