Didn't it hurt your eyes taking that pic Mike? It's a brilliant photo – but I didn't have my glasses on at first and I thought the seagull nearest the sun was a plane.
Cath – Thanks — No it didn't hurt my eyes. The way that I took this photo and a lot of others was to try to follow one bird in a large flock that was swirling and wheeling above us on a Lake Michigan shore. As I followed a bird, I let the auto-focus feature work and hoped for the best. This is one of several decent images that came out. (By the way, guess where I found your comment… Askimet!)
Julie — thanks!
Vered — thanks!
Chanel — thanks!
Friar — The odds were good, the way that I was tracking the birds with my camera, that something unexpected would show up. There were several other decent images as well.
Marelisa — Thank's (though I think a dragon's head would have bee neater)
teeni – thanks!
XUP – thanks! I just take pictures. I can't draw or paint worth a darn.

Beautiful! Reminds us all to reach toward the light and to soar, with gladness and peace in our hearts.
Mike, this is gorgeous.
Wow, I love this. 🙂 Very different in terms of sky + sun + bird photos.
Wow. What are the odds of THAT happening?
And being there to take the photo?
Oh, I see the seagull now, I thought it was a dragon's head when I first saw it. Great photograph 🙂
Wow. I have to agree with Chanel. Really nice catch!
Gorgeous. Something you should paint on the side of a van or camper or something.
That's a great shot! Initially I thought it was some scifi image. The seagull nearest the light looked like some kind of spaceship at first.

dcr — thanks, Dan. (A spaceship?)
Simply marvelous!

Absolutely MAGNIFICENT!
