Darren Rowse at ProBlogger posted a couple of articles related to Googles reranking of a large number of blogs. Apparently it’s been a major topic on a lot of blogs in the last day or so — at least in many the blogs that are making money for their owners.

I’ve never paid much attention to blog or web rankings. I just do what I do and don’t worry too much about stuff like that.

However, I thought that with all of this hubbub over PageRank, I’d check to see where my blogs fell out.

Rowse’s problogger.net has a ranking of 4 today.

This blog has a ranking of 0, but the website has a ranking of 3. My photoblog has a PageRank of 0. All of my other blogs have a 4 and their associated websites have a 3.

I don’t know what it means — but I’m not going to worry about it.

I’ve got some outside stuff I need to be working on.

  1. I do think these things get more attention than they deserve and people worry too much about them. I’m thinking that “activity” at a site is really what is important, not some rankings that can be influenced by things that shouldn’t matter. Activity could be a combination of comments, hits, subscriptions, etc., because that is what is going to make your site more attractive to advertisers or to make money yourself. That’s just my opinion.

  2. A pagerank of 4 is good. Backlinks play a very big role in Google’s pagerank algorithm.
