Since I’ve never been nominated for one of these, it’s no big deal to me that the 2009 Weblog awards have been canceled.
What is interesting, though, is the reason that they’ve been canceled.
It seems that voting is just too resource intensive – and expensive.

Thank Heavens!

That’s surprising. What’s more surprising is learning that it’s been just as cold in parts of Arkansas as it has been in DC!

Well, I will say that it is at least refreshing for someone to finally be realistic and to just cancel it rather than try to kill themselves to slop something together for something that in the real world really isn’t all that high on the priority list of life.

Ramana – I agree
Dot – I was surprised, too. So far as the Arkansas temperature, right now at 10:21 CST, it is 18 degrees. When I get home from work about 12 hours from now at 10:30 pm, it’ll probably be about 8 degrees!
teeni – for some of those who received the awards last year, it was pretty important. For instance, in the science blog category, a global warming skeptic blog won over a global warming alarmist blog, which, I think, was/is operated by some of those fellas that got caught up in the climategate scandal which is still unfolding.
Still, for the rest of us, this is one of those “OK, that’s interesting” stories.
Aww shucks! I guess that means I have no chance of winning- wait I never did have a chance.

Oh darn- I was hoping to be out Heather Armstrong of Dooce for hottest mommy blogger.
P I guess I will need to come up with something else to win this year.
