Max, the Bedbug Dog

October 28, 2009

Our son-in-law knows a lot about bedbugs.

When he travels, he always takes the headboard off the bed in his hotel room off the wall as that is a likely place to find them.

The company he works for now has a new tool to locate hard-to-find bed bugs — Max, the bedbug dog.

Our son-in-law does make an appearance — of sorts — in the video on the right.

The hand with the bedbug on it near the end of the clip?  That’s his hand.

The star of the clip is, of course, Max.

Got bedbugs?

I probably shouldn’t go into details- but someone very near and dear to me had bedbugs in recent years. This person lives in Denver- they are a huge epidemic in a lot of big metro areas. It was a very traumatic experience for them for over a year. They have been free over a year now, but bedbugs make lice and cockroaches seem like small potatoes! I feel for anyone who has their life turned upside down by those critters.

Wow -I didn’t have a clue that they were that big when I see them now in your son-in-law’s hand. For some reason I thought they’d be close to microscopic. Well, now at least I know what they look like and will do all I can to avoid them. Max is a cutie with a good job. :)

Once again, sorry for taking so long to respond to comments.

Debo Hobo – Yes, it sure is gross!

vered – Bedbugs are a real problem in some places. Another good reason for traveling almost exclusively using our camper.

Michelle – I’m glad we’ve never had to deal with them. They are certainly enough of a problem in that area of Wisconsin that the pest control company has Max.

teeni – Fortunately, that bedbug is the only one I’ve ever seen, too.
