Freedom — Not Money.

There is a post today by “Martian Anthopologist” ,”Freedom Is the Goal — Not Money,” which really hit home for me. He and his wife are where I want to be this time next year — free!

I can’t do it any sooner than that because I am that close to early retirement age. I have been struggling to express why I am doing it then rather than eking it out for another few years in order to continue living in the manner which we’ve become used to. Now I can express it with just one word — freedom.

Freedom — that is what all the over 55 guys that I run into in town have. That’s why they seem so contented even when they are having to stretch their “fixed” income.

Freedom — next year.

Freedom — even realizing that’s what I am striving for gives me a small measure of that freedom today.
