Merry Christmas to you! I still have fun like that. My daughter makes sure of that. ;-)

I love the picture. :-)

Thanks… it’s something I did a little tweaking on.

Actually, it’s a new picture that I took last week in Wisconsin. I tweaked it in Paintshop to make it look like a 60s photo. The boy without a hat is our grandson. They were actually on recess at school and I took the picture from inside our daughter’s kitchen a few hundred feet away.

Oh what a cool picture. Nice work on making it look older than it really is, Mike! I remember the blizzard of ’78 around my parts and it looked a lot like this then, even in the middle of busy streets for at least a couple of weeks! Ahhh, memories.

Thanks Teeni! I can remember a few times when we had snow that lasted a while when I was a kid and even a couple of times when it was mounded up though not so nearly deep . But western Nebraska, where I lived til I was 15 is dry country, so most of the winter there was NO snow on the ground. Still, we had fun, snow or no snow. (And Houston, where I moved to, never had snow, in fact never got cold enough to need more than a light jacket.)

What a beautiful photo! I can remember snow days and fun, very well, when I was a little girl. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Got here via Vegan Momma’s…

Thanks Geraldine.

I had the opportunity to have some of that fun the day after this photo was taken. We all went to a pond in the center of town where our daughter, son-in-law, and grandkids were going to ice skate, something I never did as a kid, though I had plenty of experience sliding and slipping on the ice. Unfortunately, the pond was closed to skating as there had been a bit of thawing. So, it was time for snowballs! I’d forgotten how COLD snow going down the neck can be! Got a few good pictures, though for sharing with others in our family.

Great pic Mike – we haven’t had snow this year yet. We used to sit with plastic sacks round the lower half of our body and sledge down the hill in them.

Thanks Catherine – it snowed a bit here in Arkansas yesterday. Of course it didn’t stick. I don’t remember any sliding on hills on sleds. It was pretty flat in town where we lived. My wife’s family had a toboggan and can remember riding it down the hill with her brothers and sisters in Wisconsin. That’s what we gave our daughter and her family for Christmas – a toboggan. They’ve had plenty of snow – now they’re just looking for the right hill and the right snow. I think it’s snowed twice since we left on Saturday and they’re supposed to get more tomorrow.

Nice picture! We don’t have snow here (Guatemala), but we sure did have lots of fun when we were kids. Sometimes when we grow up we forget how to have fun. Pictures like this one remind us of the good old times.
