The last few days I’ve been posting entries from the Diary of the Union Secretary of the Navy, Gideon Welles. The writings of one of the major players certainly adds a different angle to the Chronicles.
I’ve published all of the entries from the beginning of 1863 through the end of May, with those for the rest of April and May predated so that they are published on the corresponding day of this year.
