Wednesday Weigh-In March 11, 2009

March 11, 2009

blogtofitwedweighin-small

Started November 1, 2008 at 285.6 lbs
Last week = 272.5 lbs.
This week = 270.8 lbs.
Difference = -1.7 lbs.; -14.8 lbs since starting

Again made it to the gym 6 days out of 7. That makes three weeks in a row for 18 days out of 21.

I feel like I’ve really accomplished something if I get a 1400 to 1500 calorie workout. Unfortunately, yesterday, I stopped and talked a bit with “Skibo,” a fellow retiree from the nuclear plant who I’ve known since 1980. He’s in his late 60s and his workouts are usually longer than mine, when he makes it in. When I was talking with him, he had just finished up and had done 2200 callories! He has no extra weight and, in the 29 or so years that I’ve known him, he never has.

Mike, these are the types that really make you wonder whether it is worth the bother! I can understand why he is called Skibo. Any way, I still envy you. I have got a long way to go yet.

Avlor – Thanks! and…, you’re welcome.

Ramana – To me, any activity beyond what I was doing is worth the bother. There are a few others at the gym when I am there who are more dedicated than I am.

So far as why Skibo is called that, it’s a play on his last name. He’s also sometimes just called Ski, though I usually call him Richard. His last name is a Polish name that ends in “ski.”

15 lbs! That’s great, Mike! A 1500-calorie workout? I struggle with 200 calorie-workouts. Awesome!

Good job Mike,
Isn’t it fun to run into a friend at the gym or when walking! You are doing so well and I have to admit I envy you the weight loss…

I am kinda wishing for a magic pill this week! But hip hurrah at least the pain is now localized to my spleen and not the whole abdomen….and I seem to be able to see my face better…not so puffy…

We just keep doing it – one step at a time

My husband has gone from 225 lbs to 187 lbs in about two years by watching his calories (a.k.a. portion size). Monday he starts working with a personal trainer at a nearby gym for a month to see if that can help drop those 2 last pounds and get some tone back. Below the waist he is in great shape but his upper body has gotten flabby. Guess that’s what happens when you go from traveling with a trailer to seeing the country in a Class C . Congrads on the results of your hard work.

You must be happy with that loss.

Are you feeling hungry, tho?

Great progress Mike! I haven’t loss anymore, but I haven’t put on. I should really start watching those calories.

You should get a Wii fit. You can loose 6 lbs a month with it. One woman lost 60. My nephew has already loss weight with his.

Dot – Thanks. I still have to struggle to convince myself to just go do it sometimes.

Patricia – Thanks. I see Skibo just about every other day I’m at the gym and also see him every other week at the retiree breakfast. I agree, we just need to keep at it. I know that when I don’t I tend to slip back into making excuses and then just don’t do it until I start feeling bad again.

suzi – 225 to 187 is great! Right now, 225 seems so far away. I’d like to think I’m going to get there and beyond, but I just need to look at the day to day and week to week.

Jannie – Yes, I’m pleased with the loss so far. I’m not hungry because I’m not dieting. I’m not snacking much, but I’m eating what I want to at meals. Last night we went to a local burger place and I had a burger with a very large order of fries.

Rose – Thanks! I don’t think I’m interested in getting a Wii. I doubt that I could get the intensity out of it that I do with the machines at the gym.
