Wednesday Weigh In — January 21, 2009

Started November 1, 2008 at 285.6 lbs

Last week = 274 lbs.

This week = 275 lbs.

I managed to make it to the gym 2 days this period.

I’m having some health issues — a feeling of being light-headed that comes and goes.  It feels sometimes like I’m on the verge of the flu, but I have no fever, chills or any other symptoms.  At other times, I feel like I’ve almost got a cold, but my sinuses aren’t clogged up and I don’t have a nagging sore throat.  It’s probably some kind of infection.  I’m seeing my doctor tomorrow afternoon.

Hi Mike. Good to see you haven't lost your focus. Are you eating enough? Sometimes when people go on a quest to lose weight they start skipping meals… just checking 😉 Hope you're not catching a cold.

Mom/Mum – Thanks. Yes it is a challenge — one that I've been struggling with for too, too long.

Davina – Thanks. Yes, I am eating plenty. When I was exercising heavily — which I plan to get back to — I remembered how much Michael Phelps has to take in in order to sustain his level of activity. I am NOT dieting and exercising to lose weight. I am exercising and eating sensibly to lose weight — and eating sensibly does NOT mean skipping meals, for me.

Actually, I just recently got over a cold. I'd rather it were a cold at this point. At least it would be something familiar and not something that I need to see a doctor about — I don't like having to see a doctor, though, after all of these years without one, in the last three years, there is now a doctor that I see on an all too regular basis for a variety of different reasons.

It really is difficult to think about fitness when you're under the weather, but you're marching on Mike and that is just brilliant.
Hope you feel better soon. x

    UPDATE:

The doctor says it's probably viral and, if I'm not feeling better in two weeks, to get back with him. He ran through a number of tests different from most times I've been to the doctor to rule out neurological issues and then had some blood work done which came back not showing any infections. As a side benefit, I found out that my cholesterol, both good and bad, was excellent, but that I need to get my triglycerides lower.

I am felling better, so may make it to the gym tomorrow.
