Wednesday Weigh-In for March 25, 2009

While I’ve been successful in reducing my weight by faithfully making it to the gym on a regular basis, it’s going to be difficult to keep it up when we are traveling.  The good thing is that I generally don’t gain weight when we’re away from home as we stay fairly active.  Taking walks at the campgrounds and going hiking on trails will not have the same intensity level as my regular workout and, when we get back home, it’s usually difficult to get back into the routine and I’ll have to start back at a lower intensity.  However, part of the motivation for getting in shape is to be able to do the trails without struggling.

Hi Mike. Congratulations on the 17.2 pounds lost! That's excellent. So true about being able to do the trails without struggling. Improving the quality of life is the best motivator.

I've been battling the pounds lately. Since I turned 40 a few years ago, they seem to follow me. It's strange… my weight can change by 2 or 3 pounds from one day to the next. I suppose the ice cream doesn't help :-0 but I've been able to stop eating it every day now. Taking a blogging break helped me to get rid of a couple of pounds too.

This is a great success and I know I am always so pleased when traveling not to be gaining weight.

I just can not keep up with my husbands pace at all whether walking or hiking. I think we need to take the kids along to enjoy the adventure with him. Although- I did do all the walking tours in San Francisco – kept pace even in the rain!

Sounds like you have some good times rolling in and down the roadway ahead.

Hope you will come on over and check out my writing contest – I am posting all 5 on the 27th of March. I hope , I hope.

Congratulations and good work on your weight.

Davina – Great to hear from you! and thanks!

Patricia – Thanks! When we are hiking, we always stick together, going at the pace of the slowest. That is generally my wife's pace, but there have been times when she was healthier than me.

Ramana – Thanks! This regular Wednesday post is keeping me focused like nothing else has been able to in quite a few years.

I need to do something because I am starting to look dumpy and number five is almost a year and a half now… so I can't keep blaming him for much longer.

Michelle – I hope you are able to find something that works for you.

It can be very HARD, but I'm finding that, for me, persistence is the key.

Now all I have to do is to figure out how to incorporate it into other things I should be doing.
