This is the road to my great-aunt’s ranch in the Nebraska sand hills. With better than normal rains in 2007,
the prairie grasses were greener and heavier than I ever remember.

Wow - I look at this and expect to get over the top of the hump to see sand dunes, dune buggies, and the ocean!

That’s about as far away from an ocean as you can get in the States. It’s 1200 miles from the Pacific, 850 miles from the Gulf of Mexico, and 1400 Miles from the Atlantic. The nearest large body of water is Lake Michigan, 650 miles away.
