OOPs… I was careless - after I blogged to BE CAREFUL!

After posting Be careful and don’t post your draft… unless you mean to! yesterday, guess what I did?

That’s Right!

I hit publish before I was ready to.

Yesterday, I wrote: “Generally the post is essentially done, but I’ve not proofed it for errors or not identified the tags or some other relatively simple thing. I try very hard to not hit the publish button until I’m absolutely ready.”

I wasn’t successful today. I published before I was ready. The post was supposed to be a preloaded post that would be published while we were on the road tomorrow. However, I didn’t set the timestamp for tomorrow before I hit publish.

Back in my working life, one of the things that was encouraged is that you self-check when performing tasks in order to help prevent errors. (There were also other kinds of checks that I won’t go in to here.) I guess I need to get into the habit of doing a better self-check before I publish.

Thomas @ 10:32 pm

Thanks for helping us not to feel too badly about our posting mistakes by joining the club ;)

Showing your human side by making mistakes ensures that the rest of us that are making mistakes feel comfortable.

Have a great holiday.

LOL. Thomas is very good at trying to make us feel better about our blunders. What a good friend. :) And he’s right. I do feel like at least I belong to the human club when I see that some of my fellow bloggers make some of the same mistakes as I do. But it is kind of ironic that that happened to you on that particular post. ;) Sounds like the kind of thing that happens to me quite often, Mike!

Thanks Thomas and teeni!

I learned a long time ago and far, far, from here - actually it was while on patrol in the North Atlantic at a depth of a couple hundred feet, but that’s another story - that it can often be beneficial to own up to errors… and, in this case, add a little humor by poking fun at myself.
