Fallen Tree

“In many works of art by Hudson River School painters, a fallen tree is seen in the foreground of the painting.  The tree is a visual reminder of time, and gently reminds us that even the strongest things in nature can be fragile.  This tree likely a Sycamore, was found on the grounds at Crystal Bridges after it’s fall but remains in place as a reminder of both strength and vulnerability.”

The picture frame is a metal “sculpture” that frames the landscape behind it. (see video)

That is awesome. I did not notice the frame was a sculpture in the first photo!

It’s an amazing museum, especially being so far away from what would conventionally be “centers of culture.”

Mike, I have finally returned home and am playing catch-up with a mountain of blog reading. Today I picked my favourite post – I did read all of them – it has to be this one. I want to take the idea and make a frame to hang half way down my garden in order to give a different view from each of the windows!
