Neat find — amazing shot. I’ve never heard of these birds before, so I Googled and learned that the word drongo “is used in Australia as a mild form of insult tantamount to the term ‘idiot,’ which may refer to the seemingly madcap attacks these birds are prone to launch.”
I was simply searching for an interesting creative commons photo, with no other predetermined intent, so this was pretty cool.
Tomorrow’s post is related to Arkansas, but it actually dates back to colonial America, when settlements were hugging the eastern coast for the most part.
I had never heard of these birds either, but I am struck by this photo and how it caught them in mid-air. I love the lighting on their spread feathers! Pretty neat!
